Guide To Commissioning

Hi! If you want to commission me, I'm honored! Dm me on Twitter if my slots are open to inquire. Let me tell you about some things that will make things easier for both of us, though!

First of all, Steps

  1. You dm me to request a commission
  2. We discuss pricing and details
  3. You send payment (via Paypal)
  4. I work on the piece, sending WIPs at important steps (3 month turnaround time)
  5. I finish and send you the file on Google Drive

Be Upfront

Pleaaaase do not dm me "Hi" or "Hello" without any context. You can say hello to me, but say why you're here! "Hi, I was interested in getting a commission from you" is much better!

Better yet, specify what kind of commission youre interested in getting in your first message. A lineless fullbody? A lined halfbody? A sketchpage? Hell, you can even mention the general theme of the commission in the first message. I'd really apprecate it!

Bullet Points

Bullet points are your friend! Paragraphs are often hard to grab important details out of, and can muddle the idea of what you want from me. Keep them succinct, with important/relevant information only

Turn this example:

Hi, I'd like a commission with my character Pk Pigeon (they/it)! My idea is that the image is two of the same character, one in a shopping cart and one pushing the shopping cart. The one pushiing the shopping cart looks sad and depressed and tired and like theyre not enjoying themself while the one inside the cart is excited and manic and a little drunk-happy. For the background, you can decide the majority of it but I'd like the text "Retail Therapy" to be there somewhere and for there to be some online shopping-themed shapes around it. Thank you!

Into this!

Hi, I'd like a commission with my character Pk Pigeon (they/it)! Here's my idea for it:

  • One Pk pushing a shopping cart with another Pk inside it
  • Pk outside the cart looks depressed and tired
  • Pk inside the cart is manic and excited and maybe a little drunk
  • Text reading "Retail Therapy" somewhere in the background
  • Background has online shopping themed shapes around it
  • You can decide the rest of the bg

Thank you!

See? Not much of a content difference, but a hell of a lot more easy to parse. If you have additional info that isn't that important to the piece, you can still tell me about it by the way! Just keep the vital parts clear.

Rough Sketches!

Sometimes I neeed a little help picturing exactly what the commissioner wants from me, and rough sketches/thumbnails help a lot with that!! No matter how bad you think your art might be, I promise you it helps immensely to get some sort of visual direction (especially because I have aphantasia). For example, this:

Can be used to create this:

I know my sketches aren't as messy as they could be, but trust me, anything helps.

Draw Over My WIPs!

If something is wrong in the WIP and it's hard to express in words, feel free to draw over the WIP I've sent you to show where you want edits!

DO NOTE: Please don't use this to try and change my drawing style. This is for character mistakes, small edits, and things that aren't part of my style. ALSO this was mostly an example I scroungeed together from old WIPs, usually if something like clothes or a body part is missing on a very rudimentary wip I just havent gotten to it yet.

Artitic Liberty?

Don't worry: If you don't have something specific in mind, I can also do artistic liberty-style commissions to any degree!

Some things that would help me would be a character bio / toyhouse page, moodboards/pinterest boards, songs/playlists, ect!

Happy Commissioning!
